At the beginning of the game, most characters have a job.

Employment opens up opportunities for generating passive income in the future:

Getting Promoted

Starting as a salesperson, you can get promoted to a merchandiser and then to a store manager, and even further as a general manager. For promotional opportunities, you have to take a Leadership seminar, get another education, or form necessary connections.

Getting an Employer Tuition Assistance

As an employee, you can get an education for 50% of its price. Your company will pay for another half. A successful company is always interested in your development.

Promotion & Demotion

  2. Drag your income tax into Expenses
  3. Drag your working hours into Time Flow

You can also decide to quit your job. It will save you a lot of time and let you focus on more profitable ventures.

To quit, click on your job title in the Balance Sheet:

  1. Cross your hourly rate off Income
  2. Cross the income tax off Expenses
  3. Cross the amount of time you spent on your job off Time Flow.

You'll be able to quit a lower-rank job without notice and any consequences. The higher your position is, the more mutual obligations there are between your employer and you:

  1. If you were fired, your employer is obligated to pay you compensation.
  2. If you quit, you will be charged a penalty.

Employment provides you a steady income. If you make some effort, you can get a raise or even get promoted. Despite that, you’re still not your own boss; you can get demoted or even fired. In addition to that, employment takes up a lot of time, closing off more prospective opportunities for making money.

Working for someone can help you save up some seed money, take a couple of training courses, and eventually start your own business and/or invest.
